Policies and processes for the implementation of outcomes-based education

The Senate has agreed the following policies for the four-year degree:
  1. All new undergraduate courses must have agreed course learning outcomes aligned with the relevant program outcomes.
  2. Existing courses must be aligned with intended learning outcomes before inclusion in the four-year degree.
  3. Approval of new majors under the four-year degree requires presentation of program-level outcomes.
  4. For majors under the four-year degree based on existing three-year degree programs, statements of program-level outcomes should be adapted for the four-year degree major.

To assist Departments and Schools to meet these requirements, Senate has agreed guidelines for statements of intended learning outcomes.
